Laura, author of the compelling Song of My Heart blog, recently had a chance to see Stephen Nasser give one of his powerful programs. Enjoy her reflections on both the book and presentation:
“Stephen Nasser was liberated in April of 1945. When he was found, he weighed only 72 pounds. As far as he knows, he is the only survivor who kept a diary inside a concentration camp. He worked with cement bags everyday and would tear the bags into sheets and bind them with wire to write his thoughts on. It is the first hand account of an incredible survival story. If you haven’t read it, you need to…it will change your life.”

This book is an amazing read. The author tells a story of strength, love of his family, courage and optomisim when you would think how is that even possible. It is a story of a young boy in a concentration camp who is brutally beaten, starved and overworked , ill and he managed to survive it all. I give him so much credit to tell this story and keep it inside him so long in order for his uncle to not know the truth. He is such a brave man telling this story and it is an absolute must read.
I love the author. He had a tuff time in his life and he still buts his life to las vegas! This is a lovely book is read it if i was you! love is god and god is love!!
My daughter had the privilage of listening to and meeting Mr. Stephen Nasser at her school Glassford Hill Middle School in Prescott Valley, AZ. We were lucky enough to have him sign his awesome book, and for my daughter to actually meet this amazing man. I just finished reading “My Brother’s Voice”, I couldn’t put it down. My daughter gets to read it now. As a mom of a 13yr old and a 2yr old I cried a lot reading about the horrors that were inflicked on the people by the Nazi’s who were pure evil. I can’t believe a 13yr old child managed to endure the things he saw and deal with and still be okay, especially mentally. It’s hard to read, listen to, and see the images of this genocide, or others of our history. As Mr. Nasser says “Never Again”, however it’s important that young people especially see that these thing happen but can be prevented when children are raised with love, respect and guidance. There is always going to be evil in the world and we do need to pray to GOD to give us the strength to fight it. Good always prevails. I think Mr. Nasser should be invited to every school in the country and probably internationally also to get his message across to us all. Thank GOD for the Mr. Nassers’s of the world.
